Drunk Writing Experiment

Does Hemingway's advice "write drunk, edit sober" work?

Strictly speaking, a good scientist would have to try all 4 combinations -- i.e., drunk/drunk, drunk/sober, sober/drunk, and sober/sober. (H/T: Alex Knapp.)
